Obituary For Ronnie Sloan, Jr.

The Life & Legacy

Ronnie Sloan, Jr., was born to the late Roney and Eddie Louvenia Sloan in Quitman, Georgia on December 9, 1957. He was a faithful member of Shumate Street Church of Christ.

Ronnie was a graduate of Brooks County High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service.

He was a devoted fan of “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys and the Brooks County Trojans. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, and he always had a keen sense of fashion everywhere he went, especially to church.

Today, we honor and celebrate a man who embodied strength, courage, sacrifice, and unwavering love. To our family, he was more than a soldier—he was our father, our protector, our guide, and our hero. He served his country with honor and faced life’s battles with the heart of a warrior. His legacy is not only found in his military service, but in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. His strength lives on in all of us, and his memory will continue to inspire generations to come.

Ronnie departed this life on June 5, 2026. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Deshad Sloan; mother, Eddie Louvenia Sloan; father, Roney Sloan; sister, Virginia Sue Parker; brother, Donnie Eugene Sloan; and nephew, Rodriques Bellamy.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Teresa Gray (Vincent), Ashley Kawai (Devron); five grandchildren: Tony Herring, Jr., Jamarion Herring, Asia Herring, Akyra Kawai, and Kali Kawai-Haggins; one great-grandson, Makaio Herring. Siblings: Marion Crumpton, Tracy Bellamy (Gale), Larry Sloan (Deshonyia), and Dennis Scott Sloan. One special uncle: Johnny Crumpton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

Rest easy, Pops. Your mission is complete. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your love. Forever Army Strong. Forever Our Hero. Forever Our Warrior!!!

Visitation is Saturday, 3PM - 6PM at Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2PM at Shumate Church of Christ in Quitman. Livestream will be available. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Quitman.
