~ Obituary ~ Rufus Curtis Strickland was born November 2, 1957 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late Miller Strickland and Sarah Elizabeth Sirmans Strickland. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He also attended Orlando Trucking Company where he received his CDL license.
At an early age, he was baptized in the Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida. He was married to Creasie M. Davis of Jacksonville, Florida. From this union, one child was born, Kandy Strickland.
He leaves to cherish his legacy, his children, Rufus Sumter, Tasha Strickland, Kandy Strickland and LaTorya Strickland; eight grandchildren Rodriquez, Rufus Jr., Kandyce, Kayla, Terry, Terriona, Geremiah and Jamorie; eight great grandchildren Kacyeli, Aubrey, Zha’Miya, Malaya, Rodriquez Jr., Toron, Draice and Julissa; one sister Gladys (James) Hall, Jacksonville, FL; two brothers Miller Strickland, Jr., Daytona Beach, FL and Eugene (Pamela) Strickland, Jacksonville, FL and a host of relatives, loving friends, his mentor Montelle A. Trammell and his Woodlawn Avenue neighbors of Jacksonville, Florida.
A celebration of life will be Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 1PM at North End Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 12PM-12:30PM. Visit this website to extend condolences to the family.
