Seymore Gloster, a devoted Vietnam Veteran and a cherished pillar of our family, began his earthly journey on February 17, 1949, in Quitman, Georgia. Born to the late Bennie W. Gloster, Sr. and Rubye K. Humphrey Gloster, Seymore was raised with the values of Brooks County, where he received his education before answering a higher call to serve his country with honor in the United States Army.
On the quiet morning of Saturday, August 8, 2026, Seymore answered his final call of duty, transitioning peacefully into eternal rest.
He now joins those who went before him, including his beloved wife, Edith Bell Gloster, and his dear brothers, Bennie W. Gloster, Jr. and James Gloster, Sr.
Seymore's life was defined by the love he shared. From his first marriage to Mae Retha Gloster, he was blessed with three children who were his pride and joy. Later, in his union with Edith Bell, his heart grew even larger as he gained two loving sons, embracing them as his own.
With a steady hand and a diligent spirit, he dedicated his professional life to his craft as a printer for Wells Fargo in Jacksonville, Florida, where his hard work and reliability were a testament to his character.
His legacy of love continues through those he leaves behind: his daughters, Cyteria Meeks and Nedra Gibson; and his sons, Irwin Gloster, Carthel Starkes, and Luther C. (Lauren) Starks. His light shines on his grandchildren, Zedra Gibson, Dedra Gibson, Kendrick Gardner, and Kentrail Gardner, Carthel Jameson-Ball-Starks, Jr., Nadia Jameson-Ball-Starks, Zane Jameson-Ball-Starks, and nine great grands. He is survived by a large and devoted family, including his brothers Moses (Carolyn), Clinton (Alicia), Arthur (Cheryl), and Michael (Walkiria); and his sisters Callie Harris, Rubye (Jesse) Cogdell, Dorothy (John) Miles, Irene Atkins, Lorene Tutt, Sharon (Alton) Breeden, and Pamela (Chris) Jones. He also leaves a special sister-in-law, Daisy Gloster, along with a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.
Home Going services will be Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 11AM at Bethel AME Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
