Mrs. Sophronia Neloms Brooks, 62

Mrs. Sophronia Neloms Brooks, of Boston, GA, passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on June, 20, 2020.

Sophronia was born on December 20, 1957, in Quitman, GA to the late Eugene Ellis Neloms and Cora Lee Neloms. She was a graduate of Brooks County High School, class of 1975.

Sophronia worked for Southwestern State Hospital, Thomas County Schools educator for 30 years and part-time for Wal-Mart as a customer service manager for 25 years until her health declined. She was an active member of Richland Baptist Church. She was a very outspoken teacher for the Youth department.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Eugene Brooks Jr., Boston, GA; children: Mr. Eugene Brooks, III (Fairburn, GA), Dr. Lequesha’ Brooks (Hampton,GA), and Ms. Shiquita Brooks (Boston, GA); her only grandchild, Mr. Dezmond Jones (Boston, GA); Mother-in-law, Ms. Rochelle Brooks; siblings: Ellis (Eddie) Sloan (Quitman, GA), Robert (Frances) Neloms (Quitman, GA), Preston (Valerie) Neloms (Montgomery, AL), Morris (Pauline) Neloms (Decatur, GA), Elizabeth Adams (Quitman, GA), and Mattie Neloms (Quitman,GA); two Sister-in-laws: Ms. Brenda Brooks (Boston, GA) and Dr. Retta Copeland (Thomasville, GA); two Brother-in-laws: Mr. Oscar (Alease) Brooks (Fairburn, GA), Mr. Earl (Dorin) Brooks (Thomasville, GA), special friends: Mattie Baldwin, Faye Fallin, and James & Delores Hugans and a host of relatives and friends.

Private graveside services were held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at The Boston Cemetery, Boston, Georgia with Pastor Henry Mathis officiating.
