Timothy Lamar Thompkins departed from this walk of life on April 29, 2022.
Timothy, affectionately known as Tim or Yonk, was born on October 10, 1977 in Lowndes County, Georgia. He attended Brooks County Schools.
He is survived by his father and mother, Frank and Mary Thompkins, Sr.; his daughter, DeShanta Michelle Ray; his loving sisters: Cynthia King, Stacy Peak Tarver, Kathy Peak Godfrey, Lori Peak Howard (Robert), Tangela Thompkins, Whitney Thompkins, and Wanda Thompkins; his loving brother, Frank Thompkins, Jr.; a loving and devoted special friend, Patrina Brinson; four aunts: Dorothy Moore, Cora Phillips, Pearlie Hunter, and Nancy Peak McGahee (Gary); two uncles: Thomas James Peak, Jr. and Lewis Peak and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Angela Thompkins.
Tim enjoyed laughing and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the color red, his favorite dish was his mom’s mustard chicken, and he enjoyed a good card game. He touched the lives of all those he encountered and made it a point to make everyone feel special. He showed up, had your back, gave to those in need, and would stand up for those he loved. He was tender-hearted and kind. He wore a smile that would light up a room. His joy was contagious. His nieces and nephews saw him as a gentle giant. He was big and strong but filled with so much love. Tim had a relationship with God and enjoyed attending church with his sisters.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11AM at the Evelyn McGhee Community Center with Pastor Solomon Edwards, Jr, eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
