Obituary Tyrone (TY) Artist Corum suddenly passed away on May 1, 2022 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital.
He was born on December 3, 1946 to the late George and Cordella Corum at Freemen’s Hospital in Washington, DC. Later, the family moved to Fairmount Heights, MD, where he attended Fairmount Heights High School.
Tyrone had various occupations but found his passion when he attended trade school for plumbing. He mastered his craft by specializing in oxygen medical gas lines and received numerous commendations and awards. He retired from Calvert Jones in 2011. Tyrone met and married the love of his life, Mary Thomas and had forty-five years of joy and happiness. Out of this union, he adopted and raised their daughter, Yvonne Thomas.
Tyrone will be missed for his sense of humor and kindness to others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Tiger Woods.
Tyrone is survived by his wife Mary Corum; daughter, Yvonne Thomas; siblings, Margie Holland, George Corum, Jr. (Carrie) and Sylvia Stevens. Sisters and brothers-in-laws, Emma Wilson (James), Mamie Jackson, Carnettie Thomas, Israel Thomas, Richard Thomas, Clarence (Diane) Thomas and other family members and friends. Tyrone was preceded in death by his siblings, Zora Hamilton, Earl Jones, Ella Mae Spence, Bertha Mason-Jackson and Elizabeth Alice Jones.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 2PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Hargrow, eulogist. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the service.
