Mrs. Vanessa Newsome Clay, 53

Vanessa Dale Newsome Clay was born July 4, 1966 in Quitman, GA to Earnestine Davis and the late Willie C. Newsome. She passed from this life on June 14, 2020. She was a 1984 graduate of Brooks County High School. She attended Valdosta State University and graduated from Thomas Tech University as a licensed cosmetologist and nurse practitioner. She was a member of Simmon Hill MB Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her parents, Earnestine and Jimmy Davis; two sons, Quentin Newsome and Eric Clay (Brittney); brothers, Willie Newsome, Jimmy Davis Jr. (Kim), Coy Miley (Kiesha), Michael Davis (Tina), Aurther Lee Gray; sisters, Vera Davis (Larry), Andrea Davis and a host of grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Private services were held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Simmon Hill MB Church Cemetery with Pastor James Huewitt officiating. Condolences may be made at stevensmcgheefuneralhome.com Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Vanessa was my child. She was always straightforward. There are so many memories, but one about which I often smile is on baccalaureate Sunday many years ago, she walked up to me because my hair was in a French roll and said, "You need to go see my momma!"
