William Joseph Pignataro, 76, of Quitman, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, at the Langdale Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with cancer. William was born on May 2, 1947 on Long Island, NY to Salvatore and Eunice Pignataro. William is preceded in death by his parents.
He had many hobbies in which he always excelled and those included, cooking, shopping, gardening, and his love of trains, which he could sit so patiently and build his trains for his layout. And, his love of animals and especially his two shelties, Maggie and Laddie. In his early years William and his family moved to Florida where he graduated high school and he enlisted in the US Navy serving proudly for 4 years as a Navy Corp man/medic in Vietnam. After his completion of duty, he enrolled in The University of South Florida where he received a Bachelors degree in Social and Behavorial Sciences. With that degree in hand, and a love of sailing and the water, he had a very successful career with Sailing companies, US Marine Bayliner, Tallahassee, Florida, US Marine Bayliner, Valdosta, Georgia, and Regal Marine in Valdosta where he retired.
William is survived by: The former Camille Bounds, Quitman, Son, Joey (Kristie) Pignataro, Orlando, Daughter, Suzanne Pignataro, Boston, MA, Robert (Kelly) Green, Lake Park, GA, Sister, Eunice (Bud) Sheperd, Jones, Ala, Brother, Russell Pignataro, Billingsley, Ala.
Per William's wishes, he was cremated, and a Celebration of Life has been planned for Sunday, January 28, 2024, at The Ramsey House. Located at the Brooks County Historical Museum, 1-4 P.M., 121 N. Culpepper Street, Quitman, Georgia.
William asked in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to his favorite charities, those being, the Humane Society, and the Cancer research for UF Shands, Gainesville, Florida. I would like to thank Dr. Armand Cognetta, Medical Oncology of UF Shands, the SGMC Medical and nursing staff, and the kind and compassionate care that he received at The Lanagdale Hospice House.
