WILLIE MONDS, 93, was bom February 4, 1932, in Quitman, Georgia, passed away after a long and fulfilling life. He was the son of the late Henry and Sallie Baker-Monds.
Under the leadership of Reverend Horace Tucker, Willie was selected and ordained as a Deacon at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. He displayed good Christian character, unquestionable integrity, and showed concerns for others rather than to himself.
Willie was known for his strong will, unwavering determination, and at times, mom would say, "Willie Mo you're so stubborn." Willie was admired for staying true to his character, being a REAL man. He was hardworking, crafty, and full of knowledge gained from his life experiences as a farmer, and mechanic - he could fix or build anything.
He loved and supported his family tirelessly. He enforced the rules and values that mom set in place. Teaching us what is right and wrong according to God's standards. He absolutely loved each of us- and if you knew him, you knew it. Willie provided the best for his children, even when he could not give each exact what he or she wanted. His display of fatherhood reflects how our Heavenly Father gives good gifts to His children.
Willie was predeceased by his loving, God fearing, unwavering faithful wife, Marie Monds, oldest daughter Helen Daniels; brothers Earl Davis, Henry Davis, Gabriel Monds, Buddy Monds; two sisters, Melinda Davis and Juanita Johnson.
Willie is survived by his eight children, Doris Phillips (Carl), Valdosta, GA, Evangelist Sharon Colquitt (Richard), Warner Robins, GA, Brenda Monds, Quitman, GA, Evangelist Willie Ruth Wrice (Ronald), Quitman, GA, David Monds (Cantrell), Quitman, GA, Phyllis Lewis (Josephus), Puyallup, WA, Calvin Monds (Clara), Jacksonville, FL, Willie Anthony (Sarahtyah), Monroe, GA; brother-in-law, Frank Brown (Jeanne); three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Moore (Charlie), Rosa Lee Monds, Margaret Beamon; 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 3PM-7PM.
Home going services will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 3PM at Beulah MB Church with Rev. Edward Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
