Corrie Bell Samuel, affectionately known as “Sug”, was born on March 22, 1938 to the late Deacon Burney,Sr. and the late Corrie Bell Thorn Samuel in Liberty Hill, SC.
She departed from this earth on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Sug accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member in Sunday School, the Junior Choir, and Bible Class. She was educated in the Kershaw County School System.
In 1957, she relocated to Bridgeport, CT and became a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church. She continued her spiritual growth working with the youth of the church She was a member of the Senior Usher Board.
She leaves to cherish her memories a special friend, Arthur Freeman; sixteen nieces and nephews who were like her children; surrogate grandchildren; great nieces, Alexis, Domonique, and Crystal Jackson; and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Graveside Services will be 12:00-Friday, May 1, 2020 at St. John Missionary Baptist. Services will be conducted by Reverend Eddie Moore and Reverend Jerusha Gaither with burial in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family, which will be utilized for the memorial service.
