Creola Stewart Stinson, 78, departed this life on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at MUSC-Health Lancaster Medical Center. Creola was born to the late Heyward, Sr., and Eller Ree Reid Stewart on August 4, 1943, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was married to Lorenzo Stinson.
Creola was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Creola was educated in the Lancaster County School System. She was a 1962 graduate of Barr Street High School.
Creola retired from Springs Industries after 30 years of service. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Lorenzo Stinson of Lancaster, SC; two daughters, Sonya Stinson and Stephanie (Kendrick) Cook, both of Lancaster, SC; four grandchildren, Daryan Abnathey, Jalen Barnes, Kendrick Cook Jr., all of Lancaster, SC and Shariah Cook-Talford of Great Falls, SC; four sisters, Mattie Longmire of Rock Hill, SC, Lottie Allen, Lula (Thomas) Mungo, and Lillie (Andre) Clyburn, all of Lancaster, SC; one aunt, Janie Thompson of Clio, SC; one Goddaughter Patrice McGriff; a special niece, Kyerra Mungo that she affectionately referred to as “Smurf”; and a special nephew, Douglas Cauthen.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Services will be conducted by Reverend Otis Lathan. Viewing will be 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the funeral home.
I remember her from church growing up. Mrs. Creole Stinson a very special sweet, with a beautiful spirit. Keep us straight in church too. Miss but never forgotten.
