Mary Drakeford Brevard, affectionately known as "Sug" and "Ma Mary", was born August 25th, 1929 in Heath Springs, SC to the late George, Sr. and Matilda Cauthen Drakeford. She died Thursday February 6, 2020 at the Medical University of South Carolina -Lancaster.
Mary was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry, Senior Missionary Ministry and the Women’s Day Choir until her health declined.
Mary was married to the late Wycliff Brevard.
Left to cherish her memories are one son, William Brevard of the home; daughters, Betty Reid (Sammie) of Lancaster and Linda Brevard-Parker (Demetrius) of Mableton, GA; fifteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Drakeford of Heath Springs; three sisters; Helen Guy of Philadelphia , Rachel Meeks (Willie) of Blythwood, SC and Jean C. Brayboy of Kingstree, SC; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Williams of MD and Beulah Brevard of MD; one daughter-in-law, Dean C. Brevard of Lancaster, SC.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at Bright Light Baptist Church by the Reverend William S. Coleman with burial in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family will be present to receive friends 5:00- 7:00 p.m.
