Obituary For Alfred Lee Gilbert. Sr.

Alfred Lee Gilbert, Sr. was born on January 15, 1957 in Beaufort, SC to Martha Irene Miles Gilbert and the late Robert Lee Gilbert, Jr. Alfred was a very active and loveable person. He enjoyed his time with his family. He matriculated through the public schools and migrated to Florida where he ultimately attended Fort Pierce Central High School. After leaving high school, he worked as a longshore fisherman in Seattle, WA and as a salesman at Badcock. In his spare time, his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and karate where he was awarded with the Black Belt.

On June 26, 2022, life’s journey for Alfred Lee Gilbert, Sr. came to an end. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Gilbert, Jr. and other family members, Addie Barnwell Miles, Rufus Miles, Mandy Gilbert Dixon, Oscar Gilbert, Toborrius Smith.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, William Jones, Alfred Gilbert, Tomesha Bess, Cathy Gibson, and LeKenia Franklin; mother, Martha Irene Miles Gilbert; siblings, Deberry Gilbert, Linda Gilbert, Sandra Gilbert, Ronney Gilbert; grandchildren, Al McPherson, Ednijah Bess, Edward Bess, Lamar Gibson, Ma’Khia Gibson, Destiny Franklin, Edwin Gibson, Damilya Williams, King Holland; great grandchildren, Jeremiah McPherson and Elijah McPherson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Alfred Gilbert will convene on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
