Obituary For Carolyn Richardson Starks

On March 21, 1956, this world was graced with the soul of Carolyn Richardson Starks. Her parents were the late Lillie Mae Richardson and Cleveland Kirk. She spent her early childhood and adult years in Augusta, Ga, where she was raised by the late Azaline Davis. Augusta is also where she matriculated through the Richmond County School System. After graduating high school, she worked at a family diner before returning to Fort Pierce, Florida in her early 20’s.

Fort Pierce Florida is where she settled to raise her three children. Carolyn started out working in the Agricultural Industry as a Fruit Grader but later returned to school at Indian River Community College. After completion, Carolyn began working for the State of Florida – Department of Juvenile Justice, where she remained for 14 years. Her later professional experience included her working in the medical field as a medical assistant, which she did until she retired.

Carolyn was an active supporter of the Susan Komen Foundation. She was also a proud member of Good News Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Harry J. Shaw and Co-Pastor Beulah Shaw. Before her health declined, she loved working at the door of the church as a greeter. Carolyn loved spending time with her family but loved her time with her grandchildren even more. Carolyn was a lover of life, her dogs, and her plants. When she still could, she spent much of her free time at the beach with her family and on nature walks with her grandchildren. When she could no longer explore physically, she would spend much of her time sitting on her porch prepared to cheer up and encourage anyone who passed by. . On September 9, 2021 at 12:52 p.m., Carolyn Richardson Starks defeated pain, sickness, and sorrow. She was preceded in death by her parents Lillie Mae Richardson and Cleveland Kirk. her mom Azaline Davis, her sisters Jacqueline Anthony, Patricia Kelly, Stella and Donna Kirk, her sister-in law Cynthia Richardson, and her brother-in-law Jessie Anthony.

Left to cherish her memory is her life partner Johnnie McDuffie, her children Zeobia Richardson of Vero Beach, Fl, Bernadine Starks of Fort Pierce, Fl and Antron Starks of Fort Pierce, Florida. Her granddaughters- Quadellanecia Pearson, Ernesia, Yolanda, and Quytaeja Frazier, Kimbria Warren and Antranesha Starks. Her grandsons – Anthony and Jerimiah Pearson and Antron and Joshua Starks, her great grandsons-Aiden, Zion and Messiah Pearson, her great granddaughters – Nevaeh Starks, Brielle Lorena and Miss Chassidy, her brother Larry Richardson, her brother-in- law Leroy Williams, and bonus brother Antonio Mosely of Fort Pierce, Florida, Nieces: Sonya (William) Rush of Indianapolis, IN, Kenya Richardson, Shareka (Ernest) Scott, Ligeia Crosdale, Alexis Williams, Walshonda Johnson, Lillian and Myesha Imbert of Ft. Pierce, Fl. Nephews: Larry Richardson Jr., Izell Kirk, Javaris (Shawanda) Kirk, Jarvis (Shaniqua) Anthony, Joshua Anthony, Walter Johnson, and Nathan Kelly, God Sons - Steve and Jonathon Stark and Verly Scarlet all of Ft. Pierce, Fl. Her bonus daughters Tawana Benjamin and Shinequa Pierce. Her Lifelong Sister -Friends – Pam Reddick, Dedilia Finlayson, Gwen Reed and Gwen Bishop. And, a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.

Public visitation for Carolyn Richardson Starks will take place on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Good News Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am.
