Essie K. Walker was born on March 22, 1933 in Oglethrope, Ga to the late Ester Mamgram & Essie M. Walker. She attended the public schools of Macon County GA. The family moved to Fort Pierce, FL in 1956 and Essie K. moved here in 1957 and was employed as a domestic servant, homemaker, and beautician. She retired in 1994 from Holiday Inn and dedicated her time and service to caring for her daughter, grands, and family. Essie loved everyone dearly and loved helping anyone she could no matter what the situation was her doors and heart of love was always open and accepting. She fought hard and long as she could.
On September 16, 2019 God called his sweet child home peacefully Essie was preceded in death by her parents Ester Mamgram and Essie Mae Porter, Grandparents Estella Walker, Papa Andrew, Brother Andrew Walker, Son Kenneth Smith, Daughter Verenetha “ Nita” Deshields and grandson Toborrius Smith and Granddaughter Tara Smith. Her 2 best friends Ms. Honey Richards and Minne Bland.
Essie leaves behind a legacy of love to be cherished and Remembered by her children, Willie B. Smith (Alice) Fort Pierce, FL, Albert L. Smith (Debbie) Eustis, FL Jannette Smith, Gwendolyn Smith, and Betty K. Smith; brothers, Joe L. Walker (Betty), Thomas Walker (Jennie) ,Larry Walker (Wentrice); sisters, Maurine Haughabook, Gracie Wilson, Mary Porter, Dessie(Tommy)Anthony and Brenda Walker and one very special Aunt Mary English. Grands (15) Great Grands (35), Great Great Grands (4) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends who will miss her dearly.
Public visitation for Essie Walker will take place on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4:00pm-6:00pm which will be followed by a wake service that will convene from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00pm also at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, FL.
