Obituary For Jenny "Gina" Hudson

In the still of the evening on Friday, June 10, 2022, Jenny G. Hudson affectionately known as “Gina” made her earthly transition. She leaves to hold precious her memory; Mother, Marina Ragin; Sisters, Sandra (Anthony) Roberts and Kathleen Ragin (Jerome); Sister-Cousins, Tarra and Amanda Edgecombe, Alberta Anderson, and Minnie Gibson; Nieces, Tia Pratt, Shevonda Ragin, Tonetta (Shervin) Chavis, Portillya Lee and Mercedes Anderson; Nephew, Trell (Khimesha) Pratt; Great Nephews, Jordan, Jramond, Jamari, De’Andre, Kendrell, Jeremy, Shervin, Jayce, Jahbrel, Jaylynn, and Shilo; Great Nieces, Jada, Niemah, Jamaria, Justice, and Kamarra; Best Friend, Charlene Carswell and a host of aunts, cousins and friends.

Her memory continues. Gina entered this life on May 2, 1961 to Marina Anderson Ragin and the late Jeremiah Hudson in Fort Pierce, FL. This date on her fifth birthday she would share with her sister, Kathleen, and life twins they became. They were sisters' keepers.

Gina was educated in the public school system of St. Lucie County. She graduated with the Fort Pierce Westwood High School Class of 1980. She entered the workforce at an early age. Her first job was at her uncle’s club. She then worked at the Beer Hut and at the funniest place of which in her words was “McDonald’s.”

Gina enjoyed reading and doing word searches to pass the time away. Her most personal enjoyment was spent with family and her small circle of friends, but her greatest love was the love of her nieces and nephews. She was the family’s generational babysitter and loved every moment spent with them.

At an early age, Gina became a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a quiet, faithful member until COVID when her health began to fail her. She worshiped in her own way, relishing on the teachings and preachings of her Pastors over the years. She was proud of her personal relationship with God. She learned to worship Him in dance, but her true desire to offer praise was to be able to sing in the choir. In 2019, she joined the newly formed group, Voices in Praise (VIP). She even had the opportunity to sing her song – “Let It Rain” by Bishop Paul S. Morton. She wasn’t a member of the usher board but could be seen on every Communion Sunday as the doorkeeper who kept watch for the ushers to pray and commune. Gina found her niche in service as she worked with those who served the community in Sarah’s Kitchen.

“Those we love do not go away... They walk beside us every day. Though they are unseen and unheard... They are always nearby, still loved, still missed and always dear....” Gina now rests with family gone on before; Father, Jeremiah Hudson; Stepfather, Lynn Ragin; Brothers, Charles Anderson, Bernard Foxx, and Leonard Ragin; Grandparents, Louise Knowles and Daniel Anderson and Janie Hudson.

A celebration of Jenny Hudson's life will convene on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am.
