Obituary For Jerry Leroy Jones

Jerry Leroy Jones was born On December 11, 1959 in Vero Beach, Florida to the late Eunice Jones and James Richardson. Jerry received his early education in the Indian River County School District, graduating with the Vero Beach High School Cass of ‘1977. He went on to further his education at Florida Memorial College, now University, in Miami Gardens, Florida with a degree in Business Administration. Over the years he worked for AAA Cooper Trucking & ABC Distributing Companies until his health failed. Jerry was his own “Self Made” Entrepreneur.

On August 30, 1989 Jerry married Cheryl Robinson. To this union were two children born: Precious & Jerrell.

Jerry Leroy Jones was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed basketball, football, cooking and backyard gardening. He also enjoyed being outside and spending time with family, especially with his nieces and nephews and the people from the neighborhood. Jerry’s strength and his faith in God was unwavering. He put his trust and his life in God’s hand and never complained, he fought a good fight until God called him home.

On Wednesday January 30, 2019, Jerrys’ life journey ended as he was surrounded by friends and family, including his life-long friend Clarence (Grant) Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Jones and James Richardson; grandson, Omari Jones; sister, Lillian Walker; brother, Arthur Jones, and mother-in-law, Annie Louise Robinson.

Left to cherish fond memories are his devoted and loving wife, Cheryl Jones, one daughter; Precious Jones; three sons, Jerrell, Ja’kes, and De’quandre Jones; eight grandchildren, Faith, Trinity, Adrianna, Malachi, Hizer, Zvaier, Ya’kis,Jr. and Jaikes Jones; three sisters; Gladys Mims, Linda Jones and Letha Lane (Emmett); three brothers, Michael Jones (Annie Mae), Bernard Jones, Alfred Jones (Lucy); aunts, Hallie Sermons, Delores Thompson, Louise Thompson; great-aunt, Bernice Fisher; uncle, Clarence Bagley; father-in-law, Walter Robinson; two sister-in-laws, Cordelia Robinson and Chakila Burgess (Otis)., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Public visitation for Mr. Jerry Jones will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. A Celebration of Life will convene on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will follow in Gifford Cemetery.
