Lloyd Andrew Edwards was born March 25, 1941 to the late Rodney and Doris Edwards. He was born in the city of Kingston, Jamaica and at an early age he went on to live with his grandfather Charles Edwards and grandma Clementine. In those early years, he attended Elleston Government School in the area of Bray Street off Winward Road where he was living.

After a time his parents moved from Kingston to St. Andrew Red Hills where they resided at Kirkland Heights. Not very long after, Lloyd joined his parents at Kirkland Heights. During this time, his daughter Ruby was only three years old. There he was employed at the Boston Medical Hospital where he continued to work as a nurse. In 1969 March 20 his mother passed and he returned back to Jamaica. While in the states, Lloyd was the first disc jockey to introduce reggae rhythm to Boston and his DJ name was "Dr. Soul."

As time went by he became a member of the Jehovah Witness Church where he visited different places in his travels with his church group to minister of the gospel. Lloyd was a loving caring brother and even helped his sister and her husband migrate to the United States.
