Obituary For Louis Leon Robinson

Louis was born February 7, 1937 to the late Florence Gibbs and Louis Robinson in the state of New York. Louis was an only child and when his mother passed away at an early age, Louis was raised by his maternal grandmother Georgiana Gibbs in Georgetown, South Carolina. He later moved to live with his aunt Rosa Gibbs in New York who afforded him an opportunity to grow and become a productive young man. Louis received all of his former education in New York and graduated from Samuel-Gophers High School.

Robby was a great athlete and achieved many honors. He enjoyed all types of sports and excelled in several of them; however, baseball was his choice overall and he was one of the best pitchers in the state of New York.

Robby loved life and people, even though, he was small in stature, and he had a very competitive spirit and enjoyed a challenge. Robby's wisdom, wit, sense of humor, and common sense would always prevail when talking with people. He never met a stranger that he didn't love to share his point of view. When done with a conversation, he would say, "That's the ball game."

Robby had a special love for his family and children. Chivalry was a great honor that he learned as a young man and it never got lost as he became an adult.

While living in New York, Robby worked at Local 29, as a construction worker. He worked on bridges, tunnels, and highways until he retired.

He was a proud unionist. He enjoyed helping others learn the trade of operating the jack hammer and other techniques of his craft.

He and his family moved to Florida as he entered into retirement, where he enjoyed his neighbors and friends. Robby loved music and had a great rhythmic gift of movement.

He was a member of Greater Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church where he loved and enjoyed the song services and often displayed it by joining in, clapping his hands, and swaying to the music.

Robby's nightly prayer was "Heavenly Father, I thank you in Jesus name I pray, Amen." Not many words, but sincere and powerful words.

Robby leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Vanessa Tillman-Robinson; daughter, Cheryl Robinson Finney of Sanford, FL; sons, Larry Robinson, Darrin(Ann Marie)Posey, Jose Velez' all of New York, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowful friends who will miss him dearly.

Public visitation for Louis Leon Robinson will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00am at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. A Celebration of his life will begin promptly at 11:00am in the chapel at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL.
