Obituary For Mary Lee Dorsey

Mary Lee Dorsey was born on December 16, 1937 in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Flecther Clarington, II and Rosa Lee Gilbert. She attended public school in Fort Valley. At an early age, her Mom taught her the value of hard work and the importance of family unity. She enjoyed her pride and joy which was working outside in her garden. She also enjoyed walking, which was relaxing and a form of exercise as well. She enjoyed cooking and especially making Sunday dinners (a family favorite).

In 1959 (July 4), Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie James Dorsey. Yes, they were married for 60 years until the passing of Willie in 2019. To this union they were blessed with seven children. Mary was a resident of Fort Pierce, FL. She worked in the citrus industry for many years until she retired. She was a faithful member of First Bethel Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, FL where she sang in the choir.

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, the Lord peacefully called home his faithful servant. John 14: 1-4. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Dorsey, who peacefully passed away November 22, 2019.

She leaves behind wonderful memories and a mourning family, including sons, Calvin Barnes of Fort Pierce, FL; Clarence Dorsey of Oak Grove, Ky; Willie James Dorsey, Jr. of Orlando, FL; Jimmy Lee Dorsey (deceased); daughters, Murdice Barnes (deceased); Mary Alice Carthon of Lakeland, FL; Diann Lee Dorsey of Fort Pierce, FL; grand-kids, General Platt, Jr., Jasmine Platt, Jimmy Dorsey, Jr., Anishika (Jerry) Wright, Trakesia Dorsey, Tamara Carthon, Ashley Carthon, Corey Hendley, Eric Barnes, Calvin Barnes, Sierra Barnes, Terrence Barnes, Sermone Barnes, Trina Barnes; great-grand kids, Tamaya Cobb, Talesia Jackson, Steven Cobb, Kelby Devonish, Tyler Cobb, Da’tiyah Broome, Brylon Small, Aurean Hendley, Aubree Small. surviving sibling, Ella Mae Gilbert (Elree, deceased).

Public visitation for Mary Lee Dorsey will take place on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00am at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, FL.
