Obituary For Mother Katherine Aranaha

Katherine (Cat) Aranaha was born on August 3, 1945 to the late Joseph Shaw, Sr. and Fannie Lee Lesane in Mayesville, SC.

Katherine was educated in Sumter County, Mayesville, SC School System. Katherine moved to Fort Pierce, FL in the summer of 1968.

Katherine enjoyed a good card game of “spades” and making anyone who came in contact with her laugh. She was dedicated to her family and their well-being. Katherine was united in holy matrimony for a short time to John Westley Johnson and after his death, Katherine met and later married Franklin Aranaha, Sr. on May 12, 1989.

Katherine worked as a cook at New Destiny Day Care Center for many years and was going to retire at the end of this year. She loved her job and all the children called her “Grandma”. Her prior employment includes being a laborer in the groves of St. Lucie County and the surrounding counties. She also worked as an assistant supervisor in the Environmental Services Department of St. Lucie Medical Center for 14 years. Katherine accepted the Lord in her later years of life. She joined the Original Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Hardie Campbell III, which is renamed New Destiny Family Worship Center under the leadership of Dr. Beverly H. Hinton. She currently serves on numerous committees including the Mother’s Board, Pastor’s Aide Board and her beloved Usher’s Board where she served faithfully until her death. Katherine was well loved by her church family and was full of life with a fun and loving sense of humor. Katherine made her earthly transition to her Heavenly home on December 14, 2018.

Left to cherish loving memories is her daughter, Mary Alice (Frederic) Jackson of Fort Pierce, FL and a son, James Shaw & (Tarsha Williams) of Sumter, SC and four step-children. Brothers: Joseph Shaw, Jr. and Eddie Lee Shaw of Mayesville, SC. Tommie Lee (Lue Ella) Shaw, Fort Pierce, FL and Willie James (Pearl) Shaw of Orlando, FL. Sisters: Margie (Robert)Toomer of Hoschton, GA and Fannie (Sancois) Nicholas, Fort Pierce, FL Sister-in-law: Shirley Shaw of Princeton, FL Aunt: Mollie Lesane of Henrico, VA Katherine also leaves to mourn 16 grandchildren including LaTecia Robinson, Onesi Jackson and Jessica Jackson, Fort Pierce, FL, Frederic (Cierra) Jackson, Jr, Port St. Lucie, FL, and Isaac Jackson, Virginia Beach, VA, DeAndra Cousar, James Shaw Jr, Tyquan Williams and James Shaw, Jr. of Sumter, SC. and eight grand-children. God-Children: Shimera Wells and Quintin D. Guillaume, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Special Friends/Daughters: Dr. Beverly H. Hinton, Shirley Fowler and Sharon Flagg.

Public visitation for Katherine Aranaha will take place on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00pm. A Home Going Celebration will convene on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at New Destiny Family Worship Center in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
