Mother Mae Evelyn Walker Taylor was the fourth child of ten born to the late Eli and Maggie Knox Walker. She was born on May 27, 1944, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
She received her formative years of education in Tallahassee, FL, and received her GED in Fort Pierce, FL from Indian River Community College, She was employed by the St. Lucie County School Board for many years as an office/teacher assistant.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Tommy Franklin. To this union they were blessed with two children, namely Felicia and Dedrick. She later united in Holy Matrimony with Henry Taylor.
Mother Taylor accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized and joined Brown Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee. She later moved to Fort Pierce and united with New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Knight. She later helped organize Immanuel Full Gospel Baptist Church where she remained as a faithful member of the Mother Board and Choir until she united to assist her sister, Pastor Pinkie Hendley at New Life Christian Fellowship Church over 14 years ago.
Mother Taylor was a faithful member of New Life Christian Fellowship Church where she served as Secretary of the Church and as President of the Pastor’s Assistance Committee and sang the lead song for services on Sunday morning. She was co-organizer of New Life Stitches to Riches Sewing Program where she assisted in making over 90 dresses made out of pillowcases for children in Haiti and over 700 masks during Covid-19 to be distributed to the community for free. She recently had the joy of going back to Immanuel to celebrate their Family Day and to be recognized for her service while there.
Preceded her in death were her parents, sisters, Barbara Head and Marjorie Walker; brother, Frazier Walker; husband, Henry Taylor; daughter, Tomonica Franklin; grandson, Julius Winn, Jr.
Left to follow the path of “Mae’s Nuggets” and to cherish her memory are: Daughter, Felicia Y. Pierce, FL; Ruby (Benjamin) Garrison, Montgomery, AL; Grandchildren, Covia (Isidro) Tullis, Shanteria Ancrum, Domonik Franklin, Dartania (Edwige) Filsaime Poto, Jeremiah Jenkins, Vincent Jenkins, Carolyn Pierre, Carlo Piere, Dedrick Franklin, Jr., Brianna (Keyshawn) Thomas, Tajau Franklin, Denecia Franklin, Keynia Franklin; Great-Grand (21); great-great-grand (1) and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public visitation for Mother Mae Evelyn Walker Taylor will take place on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 3:30pm-5:30pm which will be followed by a Wake Service from 5:30pm-6:30pm at New Life Christian Fellowship in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Immanuel Full Gospel Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Moma Franklin as we so affectionately called her will truly be missed! I will never forget that she was the reason I started going to church as a teen. She was strict and I loved her for it! I saw her Love for God and how she was so tender towards others... She was a true Christian Mentor to me as a teenager and I know God used her to show me the way! Much LOVE Momma Franklin! Mother Taylor! You will be missed and your BEAUTIFUL voice will also be missed. 🤗 I loved to hear Mother Taylor sing songs like: Just like John, I love to call on the name of Jesus, and at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, she song: Don't forget the Family Prayer.
