Mother Sandra Yearby was born to Annie Lois Harris-Martin and Elder Martin Sr. (both deceased) on August 29, 1953 Aberdeen, Georgia. In 1961, at the age of eight, the family moved to Senoia, Georgia where Mother Yearby attended Eastside Elementary School. In March 1970 the family moved once more to Fort Pierce, Florida. However, before leaving Senoia, Georgia Mother Yearby accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of sixteen years old, on Wednesday, November 5, 1969 between the hours of 9:30 and 10:00 p.m., at Pure Holiness Church of God, under the leadership of Elder Rex Smith.
Once in Fort Pierce, Mother Yearby became a member of Bass Temple Church of God in Christ. She also graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School.
On April 2, 1972 Sandra Martin and James Yearby, Sr. were joined in marriage. To this union was born eight children; fifteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In her professional life she has been a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Child Care Worker, and a Teacher’s Aide. Mother Yearby was a faithful member of Bass Temple COGIC for over 40 years. She served as Assistant Church Mother from 2001 to 2003 when she was appointed to the office of Church Mother under the leadership of Elder Columbus Martin, Jr. Mother Yearby also served as President of the Adult Usher Board, Eastern Florida Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Sunshine Band President, also J.O. Patterson and Cocoa District Sunshine Band President, also she was a member of the Public Relations Committee for the Jurisdiction Women’s Convention, lastly she was an Instructor for the Missionary in Training Institute (MITI).
She attended and participated in Sunday School, YPWW, Bible Band, Pastoral Teaching Services, Shut-in Prayer Services, Revivals and she was a proud tither.
On Saturday, August 29,2020 at 4:07 p.m. Mother Yearby transitioned to be with the Lord. She has completed her work here on earth, but her kindness, wisdom, strong spirit will forever be cherished in our hearts. Mother Yearby never missed an opportunity to share the goodness of the Lord, through word, or deed. Her sense of humor and smile will forever be missed.
Mother Yearby was a devoted wife and mother until death. She is survived by her husband, James G. Yearby, Sr., children Jessica A. Yearby, Jacksonville, FL; Melissa J. Yearby, Fort Pierce, FL; Cassandra Yearby, Fort Pierce, FL; James (Ingrid) Yearby, Jr., Palm City, FL; Terrance (Tavian) Yearby, Port St. Lucie, FL; Eric L. Yearby, Fort Pierce, FL; Dravian L. Yearby, Fort Pierce, FL; and Erica M. Yearby, Fort Lauderdale, FL; 15 grandchildren: Ashley Carter, Demery Carter, Deja Young, Marquise Gilbert, Maurice Glass, Dwayne Campbell, Deanisha Campbell, Darius Campbell, Khalil Hayes, Jamya Miller, Jada Miller, Delicia Powell, Makayla Yearby, Derrick Thompson, E’ya Yearby; seven great grandchildren, Jahrelle Brown, Jazlynn McGriff, Zakira Carter, Demari Carter, Jamaree Jenkins, Major Fulton, and Eyana Cruz; six sisters, Mattie Martin, Orlando, FL; Elois (William) Gamble, Fort Pierce, FL; Mary Hamilton, Fort Pierce, FL; Adrian Lee, Fort Pierce, FL; Shari (Harold) Baker, Fort Pierce, FL; Renae (Jasper) Miller, Orlando, FL; six brothers, Elder (Vivian) Martin Jr., Fort Pierce, FL; Wendell (Artilla) Martin, Apopka, FL; Eddie (Nancy) Martin, Palm Bay, FL; Kenneth (Dallas) Griffin, S. Carolina; two uncles, two aunts, and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Public visitation for Missionary Sandra M. Yearby will take place on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm in the chapel; please enter through the side chapel door. A graveside service celebrating her life and legacy will commence on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 1:00pm.
Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID 19 have been relaxed, we here at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. We know that Sandra Yearby was a woman of great faith and lived her life with God as her partner. Her physical absence will affect us all , but none of us can forget her. Her smile, her laugh , her love of her family and her church. She truly was a faithful servant and will certainly be missed by my family .
