Love and respect to Mr. Duval he was a one man gang He did the job of all the present SRO's. I will also remember how he would get up early on some Saturday mornings and around 6:30 am you could smell his grill. A life well lived

I remember when my brothers of close family commits a crime. They will come to my grandparent's house at 1402 N 24th Street. Then my grand parents will call Pat to come over and take them to jail. He did it or send his cops out. To a dedicated man who lived 100 years is gone. RIP Pat Duval.

My Dad use to take me and my Brothers hunting and fishing, whenever he had the time. He was Saint Lucie County's first black deputy sheriff. He was always busy; he didn't have a schedule. He was on call twenty-four hours a day. The family learned to cope with this. He would tan our hides, if we were naughty.
In 1967, I became the first black deputy sheriff in Monterey County California. Often times I would call him, by phone, to seek his advice. To me, he was a tough old critter.
During the month of July, I was hospitalized; had total knee replacement surgery. It was then I learned Dad was a victim of COVID-19. Soon afterwards he passed away. I just wish I could have been there with him. Knowing I'll never see him again, just slays me. Maybe I'll see him again up there. RIP Dad.
