Obituary For Russell Lee Thompson

From the foundation of the world, God gives gifts wrapped in humanity. On December 2, 1950, the heavens exhaled into the earthen realm a destined child. Born Russell Lee Thompson, he became the joy of his father, Jimmie Lee Thompson and his mother, Juanita Thompson.

Having parents that feared and reverenced God, his spiritual journey began at an young age.

Russell had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Farran would often say, Tan Russell is smarter than me. (Any questions caller). He received his primary and secondary education through the St. Lucie Public School system after graduating high school (Lincoln Park Academy), he joined U.S. Air Force. He completed his term and was honorably discharged. Being stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, he lived there until 2009.

Russell returned to Fort Pierce, rededicated his life back to God, and rejoined Greater Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. He also played an intrical part of his graduating class of 1969 where he served as treasurer. Russell was a man of compassion and had a witty of humor and stressed the importance of education.

It was on May 11, 2021 that the Lord called Russell Lee Thompson from labor to reward. His work was finished. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Lee Thompson; mother, Juanita Thompson; sisters, Arlious, Gail, and Michelle.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Kano(Neashella)Brown of Fort Pierce, FL; brother, Jimmy Thompson of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters, Farran Thompson of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Tangela Thompson of Atlanta, GA; Five Grandchildren; Twelve Great Grandchildren; Five Neices; One Nephew; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.

Public viewing for Russell Lee Thompson will take place on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Greater Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 10:00am.
