Sharon Smith, a precious baby girl, was born on August 6, 1959 in Belle Glade, Florida to her loving parents of L.C. and Eunice Salter.
The family travelled a lot when we were young, so our father felt the Lord directing him to move the family to the beautiful city of Fort Pierce in the year of 1963 where a better life awaited us. God established the family and success and prosperity began to unfold.
Sharon was educated through the public schools of St. Lucie County, graduating from Fort Pierce Central High School in the Class of 1977. She furthered her education at Indian River Community College, now known as Indian River State College. She graduated in 1979 with an A.S. Degree in Secretary Science. After graduation, she then applied for employment at IRSC. She was hired in the Digital Publishing & Print Services Department, formerly known as the Print Shop on April 23, 1985. She retired July 29, 2021 as a Graphic Production Specialist II. She was a long-tenured employee in the same department for 37 years, greeting customers with a smile and doing whatever she could to make sure they were pleased.
Sharon married the love of her life, Terry Smith, Sr. and to this union three handsome sons were born: Shawn Anthony Smith, Terry Lamaroune Smith, Jr. and Bryant Dion Smith who she loved unconditional. Her family was her everything. Weekends were spent with her grandchildren, going out to breakfast and to the mall where she loved to shop until she dropped.
Sharon excepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and he was first in her life. She was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Sharon was dutiful in her job as an usher, prayer warrior and whatever she found her hands to do. She would always, always remember to give gifts to her family for holidays and birthdays.
SHE TRULY WAS A GIFT FROM GOD TO US!!!!!
On May 10, 2022, Sharon Salter Smith entered into eternal rest with Almighty God. He saw that his child needed rest from all her labor. She was surrounded by her loving family as she entered into heaven’s gate.
Sharon’s memories shall forever remain in the hearts and minds of her loving sons: Shawn Anthony Smith of Fort Pierce, FL, Terry Lamaroune (Randa Renee) Smith of Santa Ana, CA, Bryant (Tina) Smith of Fort Pierce, FL; stepson, Lequori (Markeis) Washington, Sr. of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters, Genevieve Salter, Patricia Ann (Jimmie) Nettles both of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Bobby Lex McCattan of Belle Glade, FL, Gary Lee (Genevieve) Salter of Titusville, Roosevelt (Jeannette) Salter and Lawrence (Sharwyn) Salter all of Fort Pierce, FL; granddaughters, Serenity Irene Smith, Makyia Smith, Kahmira Smith, Kamilah Marie Trinidad-Smith; grandsons, Malik Smith, Shawn Anthony Smith, Jr.; Godson, Jordan Porter; best friends, Jacieta Ingram, Princess Ellis, Virginia Musgrove; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her dearly.

Ms. Sharon,
I will always remember our conversations in passing on the campus or out while shopping or grabbing a bite to eat. You were such a kind, gentle & humble spirit. You always wore a smile on your face, even behind the mask. You were really looking forward to retirement. We spoke about it about each time that we met. I could never imagine that your final rest would come this soon, but God knew. Rest on Ms. Sharon!
My Prayers are with the Salter and Smith family. May God keep all of you in His Care🙏🏽

"May tender memories soften your grief, May fond recollection bring you relief, And may you find comfort and peace in the thought Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought... For time and space can never divide Or keep your loved one from your side. When memory paints in colors true, the happy hours that belonged to you." Lois Smith-Monds
