Shirley Ann Snell, known for her “infectious laughter/smile”, was born at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida, on September 6, 1970 to the proud parents Leroy and Shearline Williams.
Shirley attended Indian River County public schools and was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1988. After graduating from high school, she went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Finance from Indian River Community College. Continuing on the road of education, Shirley followed her dream to Tallahassee, Florida to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) where she earned a Bachelor or Arts degree in Economic and Finance. As the rattler inside of her continued to strike, strike, and strike again, she accepted a marriage proposal from her teenage sweet- heart Amos “Rico” Snell.
In 1995, two hearts became one. Shirley Ann Williams was untied in Holy matrimony to Amos “Rico” Snell in Tallahassee, Florida. Amos and Shirley have known and loved each other since 1990. God blessed this union with three children: Armond Snell, Simone Snell, and Romance Snell.
Shirley worked with the State of Florida and Project Response before receiving her dream job as a case manager at Indian River Medical Center for the past eight years. Many colleagues felt she was the engine, the go to person in her department. She embraced life circumstances with a smile no matter what was going on in her everyday life at home or work. Shirley truly enjoyed her colleagues. Shirley always enjoyed spending time with her family playing board games, going to the movies, and dining out. She was a loving wife, caring mother, loyal neighbor, trustworthy friend and respected member of the community.
Heaven rejoiced to welcome Shirley to her eternal home on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, as her earthly life journey ended at home surrounded by family and friends. She passed at the early age of Forty-eight, but she was wise beyond her years.
Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories and infectious laughter: her loving husband of twenty-five years Amos “Rico” Snell; sons, Armond Snell and Romance Snell; daughter, Simone A. Snell; granddaughter, Zaynah Etam; parents, Leroy and Shearline Williams; sisters, Dorothy Williams and Stephanie Williams of Georgia; brother, Robert Williams; brothers-in-law, Alcindor (Suzanne) Snell, Carl Green, and Darryl Snell of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Sherina Snell (James) King, Sybil Ross and Janetha Snell of North Carolina; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and co-workers.
Public visitation will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Vero Beach, FL. A Celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2019 beginning at 11am at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will immediately in Gifford Cemetery.
