Claudine Bernard

I met Sis Claudine over 50 yrs ago at the Christiana Gospel Assembly. We lost touch after migrating to the United States but reconnected at the 35th church anniversary. We kept in touch since. She and her husband visited the church we were pastoring in Palm Coast , FL a few times. We have firsthand knowledge of her artistic work. She did the mural for our baptismal pool which we admire and remember her each time we see it. We kept in touch on the phone regularly. I knew she had health issues but she was strong willed and determined to keep going. She wanted to drive here some Sundays but I would discourage it now that she was alone since her husband passed and her health was not as good. I was not getting any response to my calls to her or anyone. I came across her obituary. Such a dear friend over the years. Prayer warrior, faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. I just found out today that Claudine had passed. My deepest sympathies to all her family. Claudine was my teacher, and a steadfast and caring friend to my mother and me. I will miss hearing the many stories of her life growing up in Jamaica and her years in NY. Claudine was a character, strong and opinionated, but deep down a caring and loving person. I will miss her, but trust she is now home and at peace. Love you Claudine. Debbie (and Rene)

To my warrior. Missing you mom. ❤️❤️❤️👑 I was a wayward child when I was growing up, My mom used to spank me for not getting home on time because I was out in the streets playing or dancing, literally in the streets. I told her I wanted to become a dancer when I was young and she did not approve because of our "religious " beliefs ...long story short I would take dance classes for free again getting home late. Of course I never listened to my mom even in our last conversation on Saturday February 17, 2024. I very rarely spoke with her on the weekends because she spent most of her those days with her church family and boy did she have a lot. Becoming a teacher was two folds for me, doing what I loved most which was dancing and becoming a teacher like my mom. I believed my mother prayed for me more than my siblings and for that my warrior I am truly grateful. Your relentless prayers has forged who I am today. I performed in the Miss. Jamaica USA pageant some many moons ago which some of you might have had an opportunity to attend. My talent presentation was dance. Shorter version of that story, after seeing my performance at the Jacob Javis convention center in New York City when the building wasn't even completed yet. I got the seal of approval from mom to have a career in dance, bachelors from Hunter college city university, a masters from New York University and numerous performances which my family attended and my parents encouraged and supported 100 percent. I never looked back. I'm now retired from teaching dance with the New York City Board of education for 26 years with 4 years in my retirement so the old bones are screaming at me. This is my last dance for you mom and dad, enjoy the ride. I've been truly blessed with the parents that the Lord has entrusted us with and my siblings who would love for me to shut up know now as they are probably falling asleep (Belinda) that's another story. God does not make mistakes nor is He the the author of confusion. I'm still wayward and doesn't listen to anyone. Uhmm, I wonder where I got that from ? But life goes on. Thanks to those who have helped, cared and the list goes on for my mom. Missing her already and, I would take her spanking right now. I am also named after my mom. Love you very much mom and dad.
