It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Cynthia Patricia Shingles.
Cynthia “Pat” Shingles was born on November 24, 1956, to the late Josephus James Shingles Sr. and Jessie Mae Shingles in Wakulla County, Florida. She was the third child born to this union.
Pat was educated in the Wakulla County Public School System and attended Florida A&M University for a short time. Over the years, she pursued many interests, hobbies, and careers. Her work included roles as a flight attendant, security officer, photographer, office manager, and state and county employee. For many years, Pat faithful served her community as a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most recently, she worked at Sam’s Club, where she served up samples, smiles, and conversations.
Known for her bright smile and infectious laugh, Pat was often the life of the party, cookout, or any social gathering. She was an avid Florida A&M University fan and could frequently be found proudly wearing her FAMU memorabilia and tailgating whenever she had the chance. Although she had no children of her own, she was lovingly known as Auntie Pat to her nieces, nephews, cousins, their friends, and many others she embraced as her babies.
On February 24, 2026, Pat was welcomed into heaven by her loving parents, Josephus and Jessie Shingles, whom she fondly referred to as “Mother” and “Daddy.” She was also reunited with her sister-in-law, Helen Shingles, and her niece, Jessica Shingles.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Josephus “Joey” Shingles II; sisters, Kathy Cannon and Sheila Shingles-Young; nephews, Andre (Justine) Cannon, Rolando Autry, and Nickola Shingles-Autry; nieces, Toyia Herring, Jolene (Kenneth) Robinson, Josephia (Darryl) Henderson, and Whitney (Donovan) Johnson; ten great-nieces and nephews; godbrother, DeWayne (Donna) Harvey; godchildren, Maurice Howard, Serica Johnson, and Bianca King; longtime friend, Susan Diaz; and her beloved friends and classmates of the Class of 1976.
Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Mt. Olive P.B. Church #2, 8 Spring Creek Hwy, Crawfordville, FL.

This was a complete shock to me. I just saw Cynt, as I called her a few months back. I met her through another friend and we use to hang out. I remember her coming to pick me up and us riding out in that Jag of hers. I can still see that beautiful smile of hers. If something was wrong, I definitely could not tell, because she we was smiling, laughing and hugging. I am going to miss seeing you around. Family you are in my prayers.
I pray that God strengthens the family in your time of bereavement. Lift up your head and look to God who gives you comfort. Stay encouraged and be strong.
