It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Derek Devon Bellamy.
Derek Devon Bellamy, 40, passed after a short illness on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
Derek was born on January 3, 1985, in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the last of three sons born to Norman And Diane (Manley) Bellamy. He was educated in the Leon County School System including Bond Elementary, Raa Middle and FAMU High Schools.
With a kind heart and easy-going personality, he was a proud graduate of Florida A&M University with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He enjoyed a rewarding career in the engineering profession working all across the state of Florida. He worked most recently with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as an Engineering Specialist IV.
Derek was predeceased by his grandparents, Raymond Bellamy and Rev. Mildred Bellamy-Mitchell of Tallahassee and Gordon and Carrie Manley of Palatka, Florida.
He is survived by his parents, brothers, Norman Bellamy, Jr. of Tallahassee and Alex (Dr. De'Andrea) Bellamy of Austin, Texas; and a host of other relatives, co-workers and friends across the country.
He will be sorely missed. The family has planned a private funeral celebration at Derek's request.
On behalf of the staff and management of Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Derek Devon Bellamy.
Rest in power my beautiful nephew.
