Obituary For Dores Jean "Dot" Jones

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Jean Jones.

Doris Jean Jones, 83, of Tallahassee, FL departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Doris was born on July 21, 1942 in Jenkins, GA. to the late Donna Mae Virgin and Ezell Johnson. She was raised by Will and Mattie Virgin.

Doris worked at Sprint, Walmart and Sam's for a combination of 40 years.

She enjoyed crocheting and pottery and will be remembered for her singing, dancing and her loving personality.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Watson Temple COGIC Church, 655 W. Brevard St. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 12:00 (Noon) to 6:00 P.M. Friday, April 17, 2026 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Booker and Frankeia Jones; step son, Tyrone Jones; sisters, Jetta Lee Gilbert, Donna Mae Peterson, Gloria Peterson and Mary Lee Peterson; brothers, Charles Peterson, Allen Peterson, Ben Peterson, Randy Peterson, Jerome Peterson, Jackie Peterson and Author Peterson; grandsons, Larry Copeland and Maverick Means; great grandsons, Micah Copeland and Larry Copeland Jr.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

She was precede in death by parents, Will Virgin, Mattie Lee Virgin and Donna Mae Peterson; aunt, Rosie Pitts; brothers, Robert and Jimmy Peterson; sister, Mammie Peterson;
