Edgar Reese Jr. 76, died Monday, April 20, 2020. Another rattler has fallen. Edgar entered, "The Hill", in the fall of 1961. He earned a degree in the area of psychology. Edgar often participated in Civil Rights demonstrations which were carried out in majority by students in the area. Often he traveled to Alabama to join his cousin, the late Carlton Reese, who was very involved in demonstrations in his area. Reluctantly, he served after being called to serve in Vietnam. He trained as a medic which left horrible scars on his life. He returned to the states and earned a master's degree. Edgar substained injuries that rendered him completely disabled during his service in the navy. While a student at Florida A&M, he was the choir director at Gethsemanie Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 12 Noon Friday, May 1, 2020 at Strong & Jones Chapel with burial at Tallahassee National Cemetery. Due to the Coronavirus services are private. Viewing will be (Today) Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 11 AM to 6 PM at Strong & Jones Funeral Home. Edgar leaves to mourn a niece, Alesia Parrish Payne (David); nephew, Ronald Parrish; great neice, Miracle Parrish;and a host of other relatives and friends.
