Jay L. Cook Jr. 67 5/22/58-12/14/25 Tallahassee, FL
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Jay L. Cook Jr. Also known as Beaver to most. Beaver, a native of Lynchburg, VA. Moved to Florida at the age of 17 with his family where he began his career as a front end loader operator until he retired in 2023 from Martin Marietta Agg.
Beaver was known for his outgoing personality and caring spirit. He was filled with lots of love and laughter as he knew no strangers. He liked taking trips to Walmart, his favorite store. He liked cooking and trying new recipes and watching Heartland on Netflix.
Beaver is survived by his three daughters, Angelia Cook, Crystal Cook and Janet Cook; their mother his former wife, Catherin Cook; grandchildren, Logan Cook (Sarah), Kalona Farrington, Cameron Cook, Valencia Cook, Charod Sumpter, Zariah Cook and Kiah Cook; great grandchildren, London Cook, Torianna Calloway and Cameron Cook Jr.; brother, Tony Cook;
He was predeceased by his parents, Jay L. Cook Sr. and Gladys M. Coo; brother, Steve Cook and (grannie to us) Evelyn Huntley.
As well as many more friends and loved ones.
Beaver will greatly be missed by all.
The Cook and Huntley families have a very special relationship. Beaver (Jay Jr) lived behind my mother, in Pensacola, for a number of years. Jay Sr installed a gate that made it easy to visit. We enjoyed cookouts, Easter Egg hunts, and many other activities with the Cook family. Beaver was special to everyone and his oldest daughter said it best "he was a gentle soul"...
You were a good one Beaver. We had great times at the beach and in Pensacola. Kim and I will miss you. Tell Karen we said hello. You will be missed.

Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
