Obituary For Leola Sweet

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Leola Sweet

Leola Sweet, 79, of Tallahassee, FL, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

In accordance with Leola’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.

Viewing will be Friday, September 12, 2025, at Strong & Jones Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with family visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Service of Committal will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, 10.00 am at Greenwood Cemetery, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road, followed by a Celebration of Life honoring Ms. Sweet at 2:00 p.m., at 5743 Ed White Court, Tallahassee, FL.

Leola was educated in the public school system of Gadsden County and entered the workforce at an early age. She was a devoted housekeeper who took great pride in her work. She retired in 2019 from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where she was affectionately known as the “Cake Lady” for her delicious homemade cakes that brought satisfaction to many.

She is survived by her son, Don (Sheron) Sweet; daughters, Judy (Winston) Weatherspoon, Vonda (Rod) Murray, Lillian (Jeff) Arnold, and Marla (Malik) Mustafa; her sister, Lillie Nims; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Her love and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
