Ms. Lillie Simmons Gardner, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL. She was born May 1, 1943 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Elizabeth Simmons and Frank Young. Ms. Lillie graduated in 1971 from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. The following year, 1972, she received her Master's degree from Florida A&M University in Guidance and Counseling. During her tenure as an educator and counselor she impacted numerous lives. She was a an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She is survived two daughters, Mrs. LaTonya Taylor-Stevens and Dr. Tiffany Gardner; three half-brothers, Willie Lee, Prophet George III and Elder Earl; five half-sister, Frankie, Azie, Nancy Dee, Gladys and Tangy; two grandsons, Earl III and Brent; one granddaughter, Le'Tisha; two great grandsons, Donovan and Le'Mar. Viewing will be Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Strong & Jones Funeral Home. A viewing will be on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 2 PM to 7 PM at Duncan Brother's Funeral Home. Burial will be Sunday, April 19, 2020 at St. John's Cemetery (Fairbanks Community) both in Gainesville, FL. A memorial service is pending. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic there will be a private family service.
