Obituary For Lucille Casanas Alexander
With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the remarkable journey of Lucille Casanas Alexander, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 96 on July 19, 2026. Her legacy is one of unwavering love, gentle strength, and compassionate service. She lived a life that touched countless hearts and continues to inspire all who knew her.
Born in Tallahassee, Florida on August 25,1929, she was the youngest child to Aurelio Antonio Angel Casanas (deceased), and Madeleine Taylor Casanas (deceased). Tallahassee was a place she cherished throughout her life, Lucille carried the warmth, grace, and resilience of her hometown, and Cuban roots wherever she went. She often spoke with pride of her “Frenchtown” roots, and held a deep appreciation for the community, traditions, and memories that shaped her into the extraordinary woman she became.
A dedicated and accomplished Registered Nurse, Lucille devoted her professional life to caring for others. Nursing was more than a career; it was a calling. Through skilled hands, a comforting smile, and a reassuring presence, she brought healing, hope, and dignity to countless patients and families.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Carucha Alexander Bowles, Aquilina K. Perry (Kelvin), Dr. Aurelia Alexander, Alesia Alexander “The Twins”, and a much-beloved adopted son, Dr. Ebenezer Oriaku. Her adored grandchildren, Chanel C. Khan (Mujahid), Alexandria C. Perry-Ingram (Charles), Russell W. Perry, “CC” Greene, Kahlo R.A. Garrison, and Payton C.H. Layne. Her great-grandchildren, Perri Ingram, and Charles Grant Ingram “The Twins, Part II”. Loving nieces, Sonya Bradford(Robert)(both deceased), Carmen Howell Ferguson, her children, Kenya Ferguson McNair (Colin, Kori), and Tavares Muhammad (Lisa) (Karriem), Sharon Bordeaux, Evelyn Eubanks, Verniece Hall-Santos, Aundrae Newman, and adoring nephews, William Alexander, Kenneth Alexander, Jacob Legree Jones, William Charles Sheldon “Bubba” Ingram III, Sean Gilliam, and Jelani Alexander. Her loving godchildren, Pamela Greene, Keith Miles, Kofi Hemmingway(deceased), Julius “Chaka” Hemmingway, Brooks Duncan, Rian Tyler, and Mallory Mathews.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Reverend Herbert C. Alexander.
The Celebration of Life will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Viewing/Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12 Noon - 4PM, at Strong & Jones Funeral Home. Wake service will 6 PM - 6:30 PM at Bethel M.B. Church, followed by The Charmettes from 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM, Jack and Jill of America from 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM and Ivy Beyond the Wall from 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
