Majorie Lucille Pye (known to many as “Marjorie”) was born on September 12, 1959, to Fletcher Pye and Essie Reed Pye of Tallahassee, Florida. She was educated in the Leon County school system and was a graduate of James S. Rickards High School, Class of 1977.
Majorie was taught the basics of sewing from her mother. When she attended high school, the love for sewing became second nature to her and the stem was implanted. While at Rickards, Majorie also attended Lively Vocational Technical School (now Lively Tech) and received her Taylor’s certificate. Her initial tailoring careers began at David’s Bridal. She flourished from there designing and creating outfits, clothes, dresses, men suits, and robes for her family, choirs and pastors. Later on in life she opened and operated her own store front tailoring shop in Georgia but due to economic reasons closed it and worked from home.
Not including her skill and love for sewing, Majorie loved the piano. She received piano lessons along with her siblings from Mr. & Mrs. Thomas who lived practically on FAMU’s campus. We all practiced and practiced even when our fingers got chopped with that music baton stick. Majorie continued her love for the piano and played for churches, the elderly, and for herself.
At an early age, Majorie was baptized and remained a believer in the return of our precious Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. She loved to serve her church, Kingdom Life Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Otis Young, and her church family. She served as a part of the Kingdom Life’s ministerial alliance, intercessory prayer ministry, and music ministry. She was known for her ministry of servitude and helping and always with a smiling face. She was an infectious worshipper. As an extension of her service, Majorie worked as a paraprofessional at Kingdom Life Preparatory Academy for a short period of time with the early childhood division.
She lived her best life on the road. She loved to drive you anywhere you wanted to go more than she loved driving herself.
Majorie leaves to mourn her loss of life to two very handsome Sons: Derick Lebron Turner (Keishondra) Joseph Turner (Stephanie); three Grandchildren: Laylah, Rhylee, and Alyvia; a beautiful Mother, Essie Reed Pye; extremely talented Siblings: James “Jimmy” Spicer (Louise), Larry Pye (Lola), Mary L. Pye, Willie E. Pye (Shelley), Gregory A. Pye (Emma), Frances D. Pye, Girona L. Pye (Tara), Ziemethia Pye Wilson, and Velranee C. Pye McKenzie (Don), and a adopted brother, John Sutton; Nephews: Shalinus “Shay” Pye, Kevin Pye (Katrena), Myriel Watson, Devron Pye (Jamauri), VaShan Forbes, Malique Pye, Ste’phon Williams, James Wilson III (Cierra), and Patrick McKenzie; Nieces: Apryl Simmons, Sharlina Pye-Mack, LaShanna Goodwin (Phillip), Sharonda Brewer (Lawrence Sr.), Vaniesea Forbes, Desirée Pye, and Bridgette McKenzie.
Majorie is predeceased by her beloved Son, Andre Turner; Father, Fletcher Pye; Brother, Winfred (“Winnie”) Pye; and Nephew, Girona “Ronnie” Pye.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Kingdom Life Tabernacle Ministries, 1410 E. Indianhead Drive with burial at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
