She pursued her early education in Leon County at McBride Elementary School and Old Lincoln High School, and she proudly graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Inverness, Florida.
She leaves behind her devoted daughters: Zandra Henry Wilson, Ebbye Henry Thompson, Ida Henry Griffin, and Nevelda (Richard) LaCondre; nine grandchildren: Allena Harris, Shenika “Nik” Harris, Keturah (Bakari) McClendon, Walter (Xandria) Griffin, Jamaal Wilson, Ebony (Derrick) Porter, * , Marion (Matthew) Michalak, Rebekah (Antonio) Logan; four brothers: Elvis Gaines Sr., Ralph (Hilda) Gaines, Elder Dr. Robert Gaines, and McKinley (Gertrude) Gaines; two sisters: Mae Chapman and Audrey Moore; and one Godson, Ronald “Ronnie” Gaines.
