I met Matthew through my brother Vernon Conaway who was his best friends for over 60 years. Matthew drove a motorcycle and would come to our house to pick Vernon up for school sometimes. Vernon taught Matthew how to ride his cycle, and Matthew taught me how to ride his cycle lol. I saw Matthew and Nita at Vernon's 70th birthday party almost 2 years ago and as soon as he seen me he says hey "Miss Lillie White" which was a name he gave me years ago when I was a member of a church youth organization called "The Lillie Whites" Matthew had a kind spirit, loved to laugh, and talk about old times whenever we were all together ( Me, Vernon, and Jeff). I am sadden by the loss of my brother's best friend because Matthew was like family to us. His mom(Granny) made the best cakes in town lol. I know that you are in the loving arms of the Lord RIP Matthew until we meet again on the other side...

BLESSINGS, life is a (safari) journey that has a destination.. One of the most wonderful/beautiful parts is to share it while we are here. We are given this life we have to chose to share it on Earth & by Grace it will continue In Heaven☝🏾💞

Their is so much I can say about my Brother Matt. Time nor distance affected our bond, family through Love and a Mutual Repect for life itself. Matt will never be forgotten, His presence was felt by anyone who knew him. Matt had a Gigantic sense of Compassion and a quiet Wisdom felt and Appreciated. Love You Brother Always And Forever.

When I would see former Head Deacon Vaughn at church, all I had to do was hint that I was hot and he would get up and adjust the air conditioner without me asking. He was loving, caring and a fine gentleman to know. We were blessed to have known him. We will miss him dearly.

I was heartbroken to hear of Matthew's passing. Growing up on Alamanda Street, we were more than neighbors—we were part of a special "village" bound by the guidance, support, and inspiration of those around us. Matthew was one of the best among us, a role model whose kindness and strength quietly shaped so many lives, my own among them. His legacy lives on in each of us who had the privilege of growing up in that close-knit community, and his influence will never be forgotten. Vernita, Pat, Ray, and the rest of the family, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you now, during this difficult time, and forever. May the love and memories you shared with Matthew bring comfort and peace in the days ahead.
