Antonio Lorenzo Leon, affec-tionally called "Tony" was born on December 10, 1962, in Monticello, FL to the late Daniel Leon, Sr. and Idella Banks Leon.
Tony grew up in Tallahassee and attended public schools of Leon Coun-tv. At an early age Tony accepted Jesus Christ as
his Lord and Savior and was baptized. Tony was a member of Testerina Primitive Baptist Church.
He served his community as a Deputy Sheriff with the Leon County Sheriff's Office for 31 years.
He was the First African American Motor Officer and Trainer. He was recognized as a distinguished Man of Honor in the city of Tallahassee. His love of people and infectious laugh allowed him to meet no strangers, even on days he didn't feel his best, he continued to help others and show love everywhere he went. He was well traveled and enjoyed racing, cruising and traveling by RV. He was a member of the Broward County Kampers Klub "BCKK»"
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his devoted wife, Rev. Melissa Leon; two precious daughters, Sharita Mosley (Isaiah) and Cherrise Leon; his only son, Christopher Leon; his mother, Idella Leon; one brother: Ray Leon (Barbara); two sisters, Antoinette Leon and Kimberly Walker; his grandchildren - "Heaven's Seven", Kaidence.
Kynslee, Iyanna, Briella, Alyssa, Karter, & Bryson; a great aunt, Etta Ruth Jefferson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many godchildren whom he affectionately loved as his own.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Leon, Sr.; one brother, Learnon Leon; and one sister, Sabrina Davis.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. FRIDAY, June 23, 2023 at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center, with burial at Clifford Hill Cemetery.

My condolences to Melissa and family. I never met Tony but I heard so much about him from his neighbor Etta Ruth Crump Jefferson (my Auntee). She spoke so highly of his neighborly and kind gestures in assisting her in whatever she did not know what to do. GOD has taken his angel home and he will be missed. R.I.P. Mr. Tony Leon!
I met Tony through his beautiful wife Melissa while she was working at FAMU DRS!He was a very kind and gentle soul.
He will be sorely missed by many but he's now made whole and has made it through the gates of Heaven!

I worked with Tony many years at the Leon County Sheriffs Office. I can hear him saying " We got This". Never a dull moment when working with him. Tony some of my best memories of the 17 years with the Sheriffs Office were working on the same shift with you. You always had my respect. you were a people person with the highest respect for all.
