Ralph G. Coleman Jr. 73, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022. On February 17, 1949, Ralph G. Coleman Jr. was sent by God to Ralph G. Coleman Sr. and Joanna Watson Coleman. Young Ralph began his educational journey at Lucy Moten Preschool, and matriculated through FAMU High from kindergarten through twelfth grade. After graduating in 1968, Ralph attended Florida A & M University, majoring in Health and Physical Education. He graduated from FAMU in 1974 and began his teaching career in Defuniak Springs and SAIL High School. In 1985, Ralph returned to FAMU working in Student Activities, the Housing department, and FAMU Bowling Alley. Additionally, he was a member of the FAMU Rattler Booster Club and a Life Member of the FAMU National Alumni Association. Although Ralph retired in 2011, he could still be seen working the FAMU Commencements as recently as July 2022. Ralph was involved with Habitat for Humanity, the FAMU Bus Club, The Lovestars softball team, the Tallahassee Corvette Club, and his much beloved Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Ralph will remain in the hearts of his wife of 39 years; Pamela; son, Ramaal (Crystal); daughter, RaQuel; two sisters, Mary Whetsel and H. Jeannette Tyson; granddaughter, Elmeda βElβ Tanner; sister-in-law, Marcia Jones; two aunts, Hettie B. Powell (Glen) and Katherine Watson; uncle, Jerome Waston, and a host of nieces, nephews, mentees, close friends and the entire Rattler Nation. Memorial service will be 6 PM Friday, September 9, 2022 at Bethel M.B. Church.

Ralph G. Coleman, Jr. was an amazing person. I am grateful to have had the opportunity for our paths to cross. Ralph always had wisdom to share.
