Grace Eloise Fitz
Tallahassee - Grace Eloise Bradley Fitz, 90, transitioned to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Tallahassee, FL. Grace was the second child and the oldest daughter born on November 26, 1930 to the union of the Late Reverend Isaac Frank Bradley, Sr. and Mrs. Geneva Porter Bradley. Grace began her early educational years in Gadsden County, until her father relocated the family to Tallahassee, FL, where she graduated from the Old Lincoln High School. Grace earned her Bachelor's Degree from the College of Education at Florida A&M College (now University) in 1953, and furthered her education to earn her Master's Degree in 1959. Grace was very passionate about education and was a mentor for many students after her retirement. She received numerous awards throughout her career, to include Leon County Teacher of the Year, Riley Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and Riley Elementary School Historian Award. Grace was a faithful member of Flipper Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served as a class leader, a Steward, President of the choir, a Missionary, and a Stewardess. She received recognition from the National Hook-Up of Black Women. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Kappa Omega Chapter, where she served on the Math and Reading Tutorial Committee. Grace was joined in holy matrimony to the Late Johnny B. Fitz, Sr. on June 19, 1955, and to this union, five children were born. Cherishing her beautiful memories are two sons: Jerome A. Fitz (LauWanda) of Tallahassee, FL, and Johnny B. Fitz, Jr. (Deborah) of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Diann F. Williams and Franzetta D. Fitz of Tallahassee, FL, and Antionette F. Bennett (Rupert) of Fayetteville, NC; five grandsons; 10 granddaughters; 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister: Ruth Bradley Armstrong of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers: Nathaniel Bradley, Sr. (Constance) of Aurora, CO, and Lee Manuel Bradley, Sr. (Emma) of San Diego, CA; one Brother-in-Law, Jimmy Fitz (Grace) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four Sisters-in-Law; Coreen B. Johnson and Bernice Harris of Tallahassee, FL, Veronica Bradley of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jestine Bradley of Jacksonville, FL; two Goddaughters; Jori Peters and Keta Monroe of Tallahassee, FL; one Godson; Alpha Johnson of Tallahassee, FL and numerous other nieces, nephews, adopted children, relatives and close friends.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Old West Enrichment Center with burial at Southside Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Strong and Jones Funeral Home.
