Willie Mae McClendon Fisher, 95, died Friday, February 10, 2023. Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Tallahassee Church of God, 1304 Central St. with burial at Southside Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 AM to 6 PM Friday, February 17, 2023 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home. Survivors include three children, Daisy Mae Fisher Williams, Annie Lee Fisher Taylor (Clifford) and Robert Fisher Jr. (Yvonne); one sister, Thelma McClendon Link; sister-in-law, Lucille Pemberton Hadley; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

We, the Women of ICC-SCLC, sends our heartfelt condolences to the Fisher and McClendon family in the recent passing of our beloved, Mrs. Willie Mae McClendon Fisher. Mrs. Willie Mae was an original member of the Tallahassee Footsoldiers in the 1956 Tallahassee Bus Boycott, and she was one of the original organizing members of the support group, Women of ICC-SCLC, under the leadership Rev. Dr. Charles K. Steele, Sr., Vice President of the National SCLC, and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., National President of SCLC.
