I did not get the privilege and honor of meeting Rev Nathaniel Brown, sr., however, I got a chance to become good friends with his son, Nate Jr. I've heard many stories about the love and strength he provided for his family, and it was reflected through his son. As your family deals with this difficult grief, I offer you my comfort, love and support. No doubt Reverend Brown leaves behind countless memories and an imprint that will last a lifetime, even through people like me who he's never met.

Nate, You and your family have my deepest condolences, my heart breaks for you as you enter these turbulent waters that I have tread myself. Even though I did not meet him, I feel as though I've known your father for years. I know the unconditional Love, pride and respect that you have for have for him and your mother. We laugh at how we live hours apart and met only a few short years ago yet we have identical layouts of our homes, appliances and decor. Our likeness in our homes is also in our hearts! We love with our whole heart and God gave us the most wonderful parents. I pray that the Lord will walk beside you these coming days and ease your pain with reassurance, that your father is with him now. He is whole, he is pain-free, and smiling down on you. I know he is proud of the man you've become and the loving son that you have always been to him and your mother! Love and prayers to you and your family! Allison Durrance

My condolences to the Brown's family. Nathaniel Brown Sr., was my cousin, and he played an major role into my youth upbringing as a young kid/basketball player. As a kid, he treated me just like I was his own son which his actions displayed to me of what a real man responsibilities of a father supposed to look like. I must say I looked up to Cousin Nathaniel Sr. for this because I was missing that father figure in my household. Going up without having a father myself in my own household cousin Nathaniel filled that gap for me most definitely. I was always over to the Brown's house because truly it was a safe haven for many community kids like myself who didn't have a father. Cousin Nathaniel Sr., provided an amazing outlet and resources for not only just his own children, but for all the kids that may not have had a basketball goal or swimming pool of their own. His youngest son named Cory, was more than just a cousin to me he was a big brother to always. I remember spending the night over to the Brown's house often, and Cory use to always make his famous hamburgers and homemade french fries which I still prepare for myself today. I know a lot of times people who go on to accomplish great things never play homage to those that helped them along the way, but I can truly say what cousin Nathaniel Sr. did for me by providing a place for us neighborhood kids to enjoy either skating on the skate board ramp, swimming or playing basketball I probably wouldn't have turned out to be the basketball player that I did. Lastly, here's the the proof of how a man/father figure can impact a kid whose being raised by a single mother. Antwan Jones accomplishments: Police Athlete League Hall of Famer, Suwannee High School basketball Hall of Famer, College basketball Hall of Famer, 2X College basketball All-American, Professional basketball player, basketball trainer of 20 plus years and a travel basketball Coach of his own boys travel basketball team. Lastly, to the Brown's family cousin Nathaniel will be dearly missed, but God knows best you're in my prayers. Antwan Jones 🙏

We were deeply saddened by the passing of Rev. Nathaniel Brown, Sr.

We hold fond and cherished memories of the Brown family from the union that joined our families together nearly 30 years ago—Derrick & Sheresa.

We, the Walkertown Community, send our love and solemn respect to a true man of God. To his devoted wife, Mrs. Loretta Brown, and to each of the children, please know that our hearts are with you.

Rev. Nathaniel Brown, Sr. lived an extraordinary life—serving his country honorably and leaving behind a legacy that will continue to speak for generations. Here in North Carolina, we have reflected with Derrick & Sheresa, and even the grandsons know that their grandfather was a great man.

So while this is a moment of sorrow, it is also a celebration— for he now lives what he faithfully preached. Heaven is his new home.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." —2 Timothy 4:7

When a servant's work on earth is done, God whispers gently, "Welcome home, My son." No more burdens, no more pain, Only peace that shall remain.

On Friday, May 1 at the 11 o'clock hour, we, the Entire Walkertown Community, will pause in solemn respect

As you gather at Saint Stephens African Methodist Episcopal Church to celebrate this awesome man of God.

An official community resolution has been tendered to
