It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Minister Sara Curry Garcia.
Minister Sara Curry Garcia, entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Affectionately known as Auntie. She was born on February 7, 1931, and A devoted servant of the Lord, she answered God's call and now rests from her earthly labor.
Minister Garcia was one of six children born to Willie and Lillie Rose Curry in Thunderbolt, Georgia. Upon graduation from high school, she earned her degree in nursing from Vorhees University in Denmark, South Carolina.
Minister Garcia left home and moved to New York. She was employed at Beth Israel Hospital for many years. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Tallahassee to be closer to her family and to assist her baby sister, the late Dr. Eva C. Wanton.
Minister joined the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a woman of faith, unwavering commitment, and quiet strength. Minister Garcia assisted the ministerial staff and several support ministries, whether teaching, mentoring, preaching, praying, or working behind the scenes, she labored faithfully for the upbringing of God's kingdom. Minister Garcia was a true servant leader and exemplified humility and compassion, and her gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Beyond the church walls, Minister Garcia had a deep love for her family, whom she dearly loved. Family gatherings, shared laughter, and traveling to support family brought her great joy. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and made several trips with the Africare Ministry of Bethel Church to Ghana, Africa, and Brazil.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her beloved daughter, and niece. Minister Garcia leaves to cherish a beloved son, Michael Garcia, two grandchildren, one great grandson, three nieces, six great nieces, and a host of spiritual sons and daughters, church family members, and dear family members who were blessed by her ministry and her life. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all she touched.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Viewing will be from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friday, January 30, 2026 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home, followed by wake service from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church,
