It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Willie Bruce.
Willie Bernard (Bernie) Bruce, Sr. was born September 23, 1956, to the late Willie and Emma Bruce in Tallahassee, Florida. Bernie was the first of four children to be born to this union. He married Avis Patrice Hannon on December 31, 1976. From this union was born Quentin Bernard Bruce (son, deceased), Stephanie Patrice Bruce (daughter) and Willie Bernard Bruce, Jr (son).
Bernie attended the public schools of Leon County, where he graduated from Leon High School in 1974. After high school, he was determined to see the world and joined the Navy where he served for two years. After completing his time in the Navy, Bernie worked for several years with the State of Florida Employment Office where his primary focus was helping veterans find employment. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a Seminole fan, enjoyed fishing and loved hot rods so much that he started a car club in the 1980s.
Bernie was proceeded in death by his parents (Willie Bruce and Emma Bruce Parraway) and his son (Quentin Bruce). Left to cherish his love are his daughter, Stephanie Bruce of Tallahassee; son, Willie Bernard Bruce, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; granddaughter, Brean Mathis of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Alan Gibson and Xavier Gibson, of Tallahassee, Turiq Bruce of White Plains, NY, and Quentin R. Bruce of Dallas, TX; brother, Dwayne Bruce (Deborah) of Tallahassee; sisters Janice Smith (special friend, Felton) of Tallahassee and Glenda Bruce Thomas of Orlando, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. FRIDAY, July 25, 2025 at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
