Alexander Jaleel Buford, 14, of Phenix City, AL passed Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Birmingham, AL.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. EST Saturday, June 25, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Timothy Buford, officiating. Interment to follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation is Friday, June 24, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Alexander Jaleel Buford, affectionately known as "Alex" was born January 5, 2008 in Columbus, GA to Travis Darnell Mitchell and Priscilla Gail Buford-Mitchell of Phenix City, AL.
Alex was a wonderful, caring, humble young man. He excelled academically, was an avid video game player and sports lover (his favorite basketball player was Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors).
Alex loved his family, especially his two brothers who were his best friends. He was known to be the peace maker of the family always putting others before himself even when he was at his weakest. He loved hot wings and Hot Takis; his smile was infectious and could light up an entire room.
Alex attended the Phenix City Public School System his entire life and would have been entering his freshman year at Central High School this August. His favorite quotes were "God got me" and "Save your tears for another day".
Alex was preceded in death by his paternal great grandfather, Rev. Jessie Mitchell; maternal grandmother, Carolina Buford; maternal great grandparents, Josephus (Mattie Mae) Buford and Jimmy (Mary Lee "Jackie" )Duffie; two uncles, Kerri Battle and Matthew Buford.
He leaves to cherish his memories, other than his parents; brothers Trevon "Tre" Buford and Travis "TJ" Mitchell, Jr., both of Phenix City, AL; paternal great-great grandparents, Annie Hill and Percy Hill both of Ft. Mitchell, AL; paternal great grandmother, Julia Mitchell of Fort Mitchell, AL; paternal grandparents, Ronald Hill of Columbus, GA and Allyson Mitchell of Phenix City, AL; maternal grandparents, Jimmie (Nadine) Buford of Phenix City, AL; great uncle, Wallace (Debbie) Watkins of Augusta, GA; great aunt, Marietta (George) Comer of Columbus, GA; uncle, Timothy (Latrice) Buford of Cusseta, GA; aunts, Jessica Hill, Kiara Mitchell, Tabitha (Reginald) Huff, Rachel Buford and Ayana Bellamy all of Phenix City, AL; Shereita (Montravious) Zachery and Keturah Buford both of Columbus, GA and host of cousins, friends, dedicated nurses and doctors.
