Mr. Alphonse "Al" Hodge, 55, of Salem, AL died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

"Al" was born on July 10, 1967 in Columbus, GA. He was a graduate of Smiths Station High School and Columbus Technical College. He worked as a Graphic Artist for Kudzu~The Game for more than 20 years.
"Phonse", "Al", "Flap", "Bird Mouth", "Hodge" and "Uncle A" as everyone had affectionate names for him, was the jokester of the family, always sarcastic and quick witted. He enjoyed classic cars and hanging out with his son, Dauton.
His memory is kept alive by those closest to him, his son, Dauton K. Hodge; loving parents, Melvin and Dorothy Hodge; sister, Derika Griffin; niece and nephew, Autumn Gary and David Griffin; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, classmates and co-workers. He will be cherished, missed and eternally loved by many.
Al when I say that you were the G.O.A.T best believe that you were and I often told you that. I am so grateful for the father that you were to our son as you instilled in him the ways of being a man. I am so thankful that GOD allowed you and I to come to a place where we could talk to one another and co-parent. At the end of the day it doesn't matter because two things for sure you were Dauton's father and I am Dauton's mother nothing and nobody will ever change that! Please know that I got our son and I am going to walk this walk with him! I told Dauton that you loved him and he loved you and guess what I loved all of that! Dauton will carry your legacy and as I told our son that you live within him! Thank you for being the G.O.A.T. father as you will be missed! RIP Alphonse Hodge!
We were so saddened to hear the news of "Flap" passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray God's comfort and strength to all of you during this difficult time. ~Clarence & Annie Williams & Family
Phonse....Your lessons for me were always unspoken. How you fathered; how organized you were; how you spoke your truth—regardless; how you could care less what people thought and altered who you were for no one; how you minded your own business and made sure to keep others out of your affairs; right down to the end...how your affairs were in order.
Our relationship was rocky at times, fun at times, goofy a lot of times, competitive most times— but what is was all the time was sincere, genuine, honest... we was gone tell each other the TRUTH and eventually be better for it! And there was no need not to because I knew you, and you knew me.
Now that you're gone, I already feel your good qualities in me. Thank you. And I will carry on your legacy. I'm gonna be here for the Hodges and I'm gonna love your "#1 Son" like my own. For as long as he allows me... I got Dauton. Needn't you worry. Rest on. I Love You Always—lil sis, Derika
