It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Angel Mercado, a beloved husband, son, father, brother, friend, and light in the lives of all who knew him. Angel was born in New York City, on January 31,1964. He passed away peacefully on July 29,2025 at the age of 61, surrounded by love.
Angel is survived by his devoted wife MaryAnn Muniz, and their children Nicholas, Noel, Janel and Kristine. Angel's greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his heart. He was a cherished grandfather to Jose Carlos, Jazzlene, Janessa, Joel, Julien, Lailani, Matthew, Amir and Melody. Angel also leaves behind his loving Mother Angela, and siblings Carmen, Albert, and Joseph, along with many extended family members and friends who deeply miss his presence, laughter, and warmth. He had a brilliant mind and his gift for talking to everyone and anyone in telling stories — his favorite phrase -That's What's Up, and everyone he knew was greeted with saying Buddy. He always eager to learn and just as eager to share what he knew. Whether it was a fascinating fact, a witty joke, or a gentle piece of advice, he had a way of making everyone around him feel enriched and valued.
More than anything, Angel Mercado, was a deeply loving and caring partner. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, heard, and cherished. His love was steady, selfless, and full of quiet strength — a true foundation for his family.

Angel wasn't just my stepdad; he was a constant presence, a steady voice, and someone who always made you feel heard. One of the things I'll miss the most is how much he loved to talk. Whether it was a deep conversation or just shooting the breeze, Angel had a way of making people feel welcome and connected. You could talk to him about anything—and if you did, chances are you'd hear his signature phrase: "That's what's up." It never got old. It always made you smile.
Those three words may have been simple, but coming from Angel, they carried warmth, humor, and that laid-back wisdom he was known for.
He didn't have to be in my life—but he chose to be. And that choice, that love, meant everything. Thank you for loving my mother unconditionally and accepting us as your own.
Angel, thank you for the talks, the laughter, and the quiet strength you brought into our lives. Your voice, your presence, and your spirit will be missed more than words can say. But we'll carry your memory forward in the way we speak, in the way we listen, and every time we hear someone say, "That's what's up." With love your daughter Krissy !
