Anna Mae Jackson was born in Russell County, AL on November 8, 1940 to the late William and the late Mamie Alexander. She was the 2nd oldest of 14 children. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL under the late Reverend Henry Harris.
Anna Mae was united in holy matrimony to ML “Bud” Jackson on December 26, 1959. They were blessed with five sons and three daughters. She retired after 28 years from Southern Phenix in Phenix City, Alabama.
Anna Mae was a hard-working, generous and giving woman who exuded class and elegance. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mae or “Honey Cake” as she was affectionately called by her children, raised not only her kids but their children, teaching them how to love, be respectful, brave, independent and the power of forgiveness. Her wisdom was contagious, but she would let you know exactly what she thought saying boldly, while turning her head “Y’all think you know everything” and follow-up with, “shut-up Anna Mae!” Mae was and will always be the epitome of love.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, ML “Bud” Jackson; parents, William and Mamie Alexander; father and mother-in law, Willie and Ida Mae Jackson; two brothers, Freddie and William, Jr. Alexander; five aunts; four brothers-in-law; six nephews and grandson, Keion Webb.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five sons, Patrick and Michael both of Phenix City, AL, Willie “Scott” (Latoria) of Columbus, GA, Dexter and Zachary Jackson both of Phenix City, AL; three daughters, Teresa (Curtis) Greer, Mamie Jackson and Cassandra Sanders all of Phenix City, AL; 31 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; five sisters, Lillie (Andrew) Burns and Ida Hill both of Columbus, GA, Rosie King, Margaret Alexander, Janice (Rickey) Grant and Mattie Alexander all of Phenix City, AL; five brothers, Reverend Doctor Landon (Russia) Alexander and Michael (Peggy) Alexander both of Columbus, GA, Reverend Andrew (Victoria) Alexander and Joseph (Mary) Alexander both of Phenix City, AL and Albert (Janice) Alexander of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters-in- law, Mattie Alexander, Bertha Jackson and Bessie Jackson all of Phenix City, AL, Rochelle Jackson of Buffalo, NY, and two brothers-in-law, Alan of Buffalo, NY and Edgar of Phenix City, AL; special niece, Linda Dickerson-Coleman "Sunshine" and a host of other relatives and friends.
